David Atkinson is a native of Atlanta and a graduate of UGA’s BFA program in Acting. He acted, directed, and taught around the globe in theatre, television, and film – recently moving back to Georgia after 33 years in Hollywood. With a foundation in traditional acting theories, David also has training and experience in some lesser-known methodologies that have served him and his students well. Teaching actors to direct themselves is an important focus of his teaching.

In recent years, you might have seen David in Yellowstone, Westworld, Barry, SWAT, American Horror Story, Hillbilly Elegy, 50 to 1, and Racing Colt. He has co-starred with Tom Holland, Bill Skaarsgard, Harrison Ford, Sharon Stone, George Lopez, Burt Reynolds and many others. He also has over 200 voice over credits, and still works onstage – recently appearing in the first national tour of the musical Bright Star.

Helping actors be their best selves has always been David’s goal, and that means maintaining a happy and healthy spirit, along with their artistry.
