The BASELINE designation is reserved for the introductory level of each course that Catapult offers. Each Baseline course is a prerequisite to its corresponding ADVANCED class, and should be taken in order to progress in Catapult’s Youth Acting Track. There are occasional exceptions, inquire here. It should be noted that Advanced classes can be taken indefinitely, as the material is always changing and no two semesters are the same.
In TV/ Film acting, actors bring stories to life in front of the camera. This virtual baseline course teaches actors the fundamentals of how to create fun & truthful characters. Through a variety of exercises, lecture and basic scene work, actors will learn the key elements to kickstart their on-camera acting journey!
This introductory virtual class serves as an exploratory experience for students interested in professional acting for TV and Film, with a focus on bettering the human being; not just the actor. Through a combination of acting exercises, on-camera play, improv games, and active listening, students have the opportunity to dive into TV/Film acting while developing valuable techniques and life skills. In this fun, creative environment, students will learn the importance of play, mindset, listening, empathy, connection and drive!
In this course, actors will dive deep into the ins and outs of virtual on-camera auditioning with an accomplished working actor and coach in the Southeast/Atlanta market. Learn how to create and deliver dynamic performances, while maximizing the “digital canvas” for self tapes or zoom call backs, with an emphasis on clear, active choices, grounded in truth. We will also cover everything “outside of the acting” from industry standards for self tapes & at home set-ups to finding auditions, representation, and other resources. We’ll create a basic road map for any audition by analyzing the script, exploring relationships, objectives, motivations, obstacles, actions, and storytelling arc. We’ll practice receiving notes and re-directs. Slates, cold reads and callback/on-set etiquette will also be explored, and we’ll reserve time each week for general questions about the biz!
