TV/Film Scene Study is a scene study workout for the serious + experienced actor. Actors will workshop scenes that will challenge them to strive for a deeper, more complex understanding of their characters + their behavior, with the goal of becoming stronger, more confident storytellers. Actors will perform and take direction each week with the focus on rehearsal and collaboration, not instruction. Professional Film/TV/Theatre experience required.
This immersive course is designed for the professional actor looking to experience a deep dive into their craft, sharpen their self taping/audition skills, and develop confidence. The course will arm the professional actor with the tools needed to create fully developed characters on camera that come from a grounded place of truth and authenticity. Each week actors will sharpen their craft through a series of in-depth character exploration, on-camera scene work, self-tapes, and exploratory exercises. This course, in particular, will also prepare the actor’s mindset and materials to be competitive in the industry, so that their craft and personal essence can shine.
In this course, actors will dissect and demystify the on-camera auditioning process with one of Atlanta’s most experienced casting directors (and former actor). Expect tips on how to create dynamic, personal, and active self tapes or in-person call backs with clear, active choices, grounded in truth. We will also cover everything “outside of the acting” from industry standard lighting, sound, to backgrounds and much more. We’ll create a basic road map for any audition by exploring objectives, obstacles, actions, and storytelling arc. We’ll practice receiving notes and re-directs. Slates and cold reads will also be explored, and we’ll reserve time each week for general questions about the biz!
