This is an introductory course to Improvisational Comedy – the ever-growing Art form where the actors make up everything in the moment. Improv training is arguably one of the most valuable assets you can possess as a TV/Film actor. This class will teach you how to listen, say YES, embrace uncomfortability and failure, and develop an awareness for comedic timing.
This class is for the actor with little to no film/TV experience. This course will focus on the basics of on-camera acting and provide the tools necessary to bring characters to life on screen. Students will build a foundation of knowledge including the basics of cinematic storytelling, the audition process, and the history of on-camera acting. Students will learn by doing through weekly rehearsal and by shooting on camera scenes with other actors.
On-Camera intermediate explores the individual needs of each actor to instill confidence in preparation and performance.Through script analysis, improv, self-tapes and constructive feedback, actors will be pushed creatively and encouraged to try new techniques and take risks in a supportive environment!
TV/Film Scene Study is a scene study workout for the serious + experienced actor. Actors will workshop scenes that will challenge them to strive for a deeper, more complex understanding of their characters + their behavior, with the goal of becoming stronger, more confident storytellers. Actors will perform and take direction each week with the focus on rehearsal and collaboration, not instruction. Professional Film/TV/Theatre experience required.
