Calling all aspiring filmmakers! Learn the crucial fundamentals of how to write, shoot and edit your own content with Ryan Darst, an award-winning, Los Angeles-based independent filmmaker who’s been creating films and teaching for over two decades. His energetic and positive approach will empower you to find to your cinematic voice and learn by doing what you love. Supported by examples from Hollywood films, indies, web series and more, students will understand the core principles of confident filmmaking and be challenged to create their own work throughout the program.
ADULT ON-CAMERA: BASELINE is for the actor with little to no film/TV experience. This course will focus on the basics of on-camera acting and provide the tools necessary to bring characters to life on screen. Students will build a foundation of knowledge including the basics of cinematic storytelling, the audition process, and the history of on-camera acting. Students will learn by doing through weekly rehearsal and by shooting on camera scenes with other actors.
ADULT ON-CAMERA: INTERMEDIATE is for the actor with some film/TV experience, looking to improve their craft and work more consistently on-camera. Special emphasis will be placed on expanding the actor’s cinematic knowledge while improving their ability to collaborate on professional sets. Each week actors will have a chance to work scenes on camera and receive valuable feedback and direction. Students will receive a professionally shot tape of their final scenes.
ADULT ON-CAMERA SCENE STUDY: ADVANCED is a scene study workout for the serious + experienced actor. Actors will workshop scenes that will challenge them to strive for a deeper, more complex understanding of their characters + their behavior, with the goal of becoming stronger, more confident storytellers. Actors will perform and take direction each week with the focus on rehearsal and collaboration, not instruction. Professional Film/TV/Theatre experience required.
Catapult Acting, LLC has a 24 hour grace period in which clients can cancel their registration and receive a full refund. After 24 hours, a 10% cancellation fee will apply to all registrations. If the client chooses to cancel 15-21 days before the event (classes, workshops & camps), a 50% refund will be issued. If the registration is cancelled within 14 days of the event, 100% of the payment will be forfeited. PLEASE NOTE: There are no refunds for missed, dropped or cancelled classes; should your schedule change once registered and within the cancellation policy.
