First things first…
Remember in English class when you had to identify the themes in the piece you were studying? Just in case it’s been a while since your last lesson, a theme is the overall message the writer is trying to convey. Like authors, screenwriters also use themes when writing screenplays. Actors then have to identify these themes in order to fully understand the story they’re telling. Catapult Coach, Joe Massingill, is here to kickoff the first video of Catapult’s Developing a Backstory series with tips on themes and where to start the process.
